Photo: Arrival at The 4000 Islands

From one of my first adventures as a vagabond, I took this photo of my crew and I arriving by longboat on one of the “4000 Islands” of Laos, Don Det.

Nestled in one of the thousands of islands called Si Phan Don (4000 Islands) in the mighty Mekong River is a paradise for budget backpackers and travelers alike. Spend your days, weeks or whatever here relaxing in a hammock, bungalow, or anywhere along the Mekong River.
