“Don’t Live and Die in The Same Corner of the World…

You shouldn’t live and die in the same corner of the world of where you were born or raised, you’ll miss out on a lot of living before dying.

“Tis a big and beautiful world. Most of us live and die in the same corner where we were born and never get to see any of it. I don’t want to be most of us.” -Oberyn Martell, The Red Viper

Travel is a part of nature and exploration is a part of life, incidentally or purposefully it’s not natural living without traveling and exploring. Both are necessary to function but in abundance, there is experience and knowledge.

With experience comes fulfillment and gratification. With knowledge comes satisfaction and evolution. It’s not the meaning of life but it’s the purposes of living.

Then perhaps you can find pieces of meanings in life.

Just like looking at only a corner of a painting or having only a few corner pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, knowing only your own familiar corner of the world is a somber and oblivious way to live. Especially knowing there’s so much more out there, all within reach.

Besides, how can you understand what that small corner means without knowing how it all fits with the rest? A corner, any corner, literal or figurative can only exist because of its greater whole of other corners. I am a vagabond, digital nomad and lifestyle traveler. That makes me inarguably bias towards travel in almost every way. But that also gives me a unique understanding of what travel can do to a person.

It enhances me in many ways, gives me constant life lessons, an evergrowing education of higher learning, captured moments of pure serenity, perspectives into how the world works, the experience of exotic romance and relationships, exposure to the world’s cultures and even making me a better human being.

Travel is cheap, the world is small and life is short… it’s not living if I don’t see it all before I die.

Travel and live interestingly or die boringly.

I was just thinking that, Oberyn’s scene with Tyrion on why he travels.

You sir are very quotable, not the Game of Thrones one (although that’s a good one to) but yours, very inspirational, especially the last 3 lines.

I know you’re from the US so you’ll understand the word “townie”. I grew up in a small town where most people live and die in that small town. Nothing wrong with it but at the same time, it seems like that minimizes what life has to offer as you say. There is so much out there beyond out little bubble and we should all at least see it.
