American or not, Republican or Democrat, Trump supporter or not, I don’t give a fuck. I’ve explored this world more than most people will travel in several lifetimes. I’ve learned no matter our differences, backgrounds, beliefs and allegiances, we can not only be civil but be friends. With that being said…
I don’t want to get political so let’s forget sides or opinions and just talk about the facts. Any way you slice it, this longest government shutdown was a unilateral move by Trump. Just look at his quote or video. A move he alone could have ended anytime.
If we don’t get what we want, one way or the other, whether it’s through you, through military, through anything you want to call, I will shut down the government. And I am proud. I’ll tell you what. I am proud to shut down the government. So I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it. The last time you shut it down, it didn’t work. I will take the mantle of shutting down.
This was a “Trump Shutdown”. I dare you to challenge me on that, with facts, please. He couldn’t get what he wanted so he essentially held much of the government employees and federal contractors’ money as hostage. Then after he finally caved, nothing was gained but much was lost, billions unrecoverable.
This photo was taken at Vinpearl Hotel in Ha Tinh, Vietnam after a 2 hour call to the client I was contracted to work with. Leaving my girlfriend all alone. This particular contract was done via my secure phone for several months and I had to literally be on call 24 hours a day, and there were many.
But I’m not complaining about that. It’s rare I get to work remotely with my consulting contracts. Work is work and I knew of the constant disruptions that could come with this contract while with my girl.
However, if work is work then that work should be compensated accordingly. I’m owed in the low 5 figures and there’s a good chance I’ll never see that money. That I do have a complaint about.
Trump recently signed a bill to give back pay to those who have been furloughed, which is outstanding. But apparently he’s actively blocking paying us government contractors anything.
It’s well documented going back further than when I wasn’t even born yet on how he stiffs his business employees and contractors. History repeats itself.
I’m not married, have children or in debt but I do have mortgages and bills like everyone else. I only take 2 or 3 contracts a year because it pays well. This website makes a little money but not getting paid for just 1 contract is like your salary getting cut by a third.
Imagine that. Your wages for the year suddenly dropping by a staggering percentage. I’m fortunate enough to not have to live paycheck to paycheck anymore but most of us do, I know the struggle.
I know many of you are active federal employees and contractors going through the same shit, so let me say to you all to stay strong and keep up the hustle.
